Gold Standard is a civil society NGO, standards body and thought leader that promotes the best that can be achieved in climate mitigation and development projects. It was established in 2003 by WWF and other international NGOs as a best practice standard to ensure projects that reduced carbon emissions under the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) also delivered sustainable development benefits. Gold Standard now has a broad NGO Supporter Network and 2000+ climate and development projects in over 80 countries, creating billions of dollars of shared value from climate and development action worldwide.
Complementary to its focus on developing high integrity technical solutions in carbon markets, Gold Standard is also a thought leader and develops innovative programmes and solutions to catalyse state and non-state climate action. This involves developing market policy, thought leadership and good practice standards, tools and guidance to to ensure that solutions drive ambition and high environmental/SD integrity where they are applied.
As action to avert the climate emergency ramps up there is a need for credible, practicable, efficient and robust systems to manage the complexity of monitoring, reporting and verifying climate information. This is important to Gold Standard in its mission to support high quality action and drive optimal impacts, but it is also important in the context of wider tracking of targets and impacts, for example by governments, companies and projects.

Gold Standard is a respected thought leader in this space, for example through its work with the Climate Ledger Initiative (CLI) where we have published our thinking on this topic in recent years. Now is the time to move from thought leadership to action.
The Gold Standard Foundation seeks a highly motivated Senior Manager for this digital programme. The role will lead a cross-team initiative within Gold Standard to brief, design, develop and implement according to the four aims above. The role will also become a key industry figure and thought leader.
The role will report to the Programme Director and within the leadership of the Chief Technical Officer.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and lead efforts at Gold Standard and to use this to shape the wider conversation, all while gaining exposure as a leader in the field. This is expected to be a full-time position, responsible for advancing the Foundation’s digital programme in all areas.
Primary Responsibilities – Programme Management and development
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage the programme of digitisation and related activities at Gold Standard. In this sense the precise responsibilities will further develop and evolve with the actions of the successful candidate. The following is therefore provided as a starting point:
In addition to the above the role may co-develop thought leadership articles and help to represent Gold Standard at external events and working group.
